This young Florentine woman, Monna (or Mona) Lisa was married to Francesco del Giocondo in 1495. This portrait was done sometime between 1503 and 1505. Leonardo loved this portrait so much that he always carried it with him. In the end, it was sold to Francois I (of France) by Leonardo. Permanent collection at Musee du Louvre, Paris.
